L'arrivée de Pointe-à-Pitre se fait par une allée de flamboyants magnifiques (floraison mai-septembre), à la sortie vous emprunterez l'allée Dumanoir: 1 km entre une double rangée de palmiers royaux plantés au 19ème siècle. La commune englobe les villages Sainte-Marie au nord, Saint-Sauveur et Bananier - village de pêcheurs pittoresque - au sud. Sainte Marie est le lieu de débarquement de Christophe Colomb, le 4 novembre 1493, commémoré par une colonne au buste du navigateur. Le temple hindou de Chansy, façade orné de statuettes polychromes; temoignage de la forte présence indienne. Le Grand Etang sur la route vers les chutes du Carbet. Sainte Marie ist der Ort, an dem Christoph Kolombus am 4. November 1493 an Land ging. Eine Säule mit seiner Büste ist als Denkmal daran zu sehen.
